HOW TO PREPARE

In a pot, bring water to a boil. Transfer the frozen yeast dumplings to a sieve inside the pot. Cover and let the dumplings steam over high heat for 20 min.

Melt unsalted butter in a small saucepan and set aside.

Serve dumplings on a plate, pour over the melted butter and sprinkle the poppy seed and sugar mix on top.

THE GERMKNÖDEL

Germknödel is a fluffy yeast dough dumpling (knödel), traditionally filled with spiced plum jam and served with melted butter and a mix of poppy seeds and sugar on top. It is a culinary specialty of Austria. The dish is served both as a dessert and as a main course.
